Hi, I think I may have fallen foul of the tax system through ignorance of the facts.
I purchased a flat in Hertfordshire in 1988 as my only home and then in 2000 I purchased a 2nd home in Yorkshire. I spent about 50% of my time at both locations and then in November 2006 I married and bought a house with my wife. I have never advised HMRC of my purchases as until now I didn't know they should be informed. The properties I own are mortgaged and the joint property is owned outright. Can anyone help and advise what I should do to minimise my CGT liability?
